If you are a blogger and spent time in the blogging industry then you must be well aware of Google algorithm changes including Google Panda and Penguin Updates. In the past few months, Google rolled Panda updates after every month but recently Matt Cutts announced that there will be no more announced Panda updates. It means that from now onward  Google Panda updates will be less noticeable to SEO companies and webmasters.

It is said that wordpress is the best blogging platform but there are also some problems with wordpress which can lead your wordpress blog to Panda Penalty and ultimately to a sudden decrease in traffic. So, these problems should be solved in order to recover from Google Panda effect and regain your Ranking back in Search Engines.

Google Panda Updates and WordPress

Following are the causes which can make your WordPress blog more vulnerable to Google Panda effect and techniques to save wordpress blogs from Google Panda Penalty are also explained.

How To Overcome Google Panda Effect

Attachment Pages Indexed in Google

Images can help a lot to demonstrate about anything better than words. It is recommended to use related images with written content. But, when you upload images to your wordpress blog, then automatically wordpress will create separate page for each attachment (image) and if you put on average 5 images per post and your blog contains 100 posts, it means that there will be 5*100=500 extra pages created by wordpress automatically which will only contain image. So, these all pages will be considered thin content and it will cause Panda Penalty.

In order to tackle this problem, you can use WordPress SEO plugin by Yoast. This plugin is capable of redirecting all attachment pages to the parent post with transferring all the link juice to the main post. So, after redirecting attachment pages to main post, your all link juice will be concentrated to the parent posts which will help in better SERP rankings.

It is recommended that while inserting images in blog posts, you should link images to the image file instead of attachment pages. This will also avoid further creation of Attachments pages and will save your blog from Panda penalty due to thin content.

Excessive Use of Tags

It is recommended to use 4-5 tags per post. Tags really helps users to find related and specific content from your blog but if you insert bunch of tags with each post then it will have a negative impact on your blog. Remember that Google indexes tag links of wordpress blogs and excess of these tag pages will affect your blog.

By using WordPress SEO plugin, you can also de-index these kinds of tag pages, author archives, and date archives from the Google Search.

Keyword Stuffing

Excessive use of keywords in blog posts can also cause Google Panda penalty. Google recommends keyword density of 2% and according to yahoo, keyword density should bemaximum 3%. If you use a lot of related keywords then it will be considered as keyword stuffing. Keyword density of 5-6% can be considered as keyword stuffing by Search bots. By using the same wordpress SEO plugin, you can determine the keyword density of your posts. By using a proper focus keyword, you can rank your blog posts well in Google search results.
